Manuel II Palaeologus, 1391-1425. Stavraton (Silver, 25 mm, 7.40 g, 6 h), light coinage, Constantinopolis, 1403-1425. Nimbate bust of Christ facing, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels, flanked by IC - XC above sigla; in outer margin, pellets and stars. Rev. +MANOVHΛ BA[...] ΠΑΛЄOΛOΓOC / ΘV XAPITH BA[...]VTⲰN POMЄⲰN Nimbate and draped bust of Manuel II facing; to left and right, pellet. DOC 1396 ff. SB 2549. A nicely toned example with almost complete legends. Somewhat rough and with minor scratches, otherwise, very fine.
